OUR VISION At EarthDaily Analytics (EDA), we strive to build a more sustainable planet by creating innovative solutions that combine satellite imagery of the Earth, modern software engineering, machine learning, and cloud computing to solve the toughest challenges in agriculture, energy and mining, insurance and risk mitigation, wildfire and forest intelligence, carbon-capture verification and more.

EDA's signature Earth Observation mission, the EarthDaily Constellation (EDC), is currently under construction. EDC will be the most powerful global change detection and monitoring system ever developed, capable of generating unprecedented predictive analytics and insights. It will combine with the EarthPipeline data processing system to provide scientific-grade data of the world every day, positioning EDA to meet the growing needs of diverse industries.

OUR TEAM Our global, enterprise-wide team is made up of data scientists, software engineers, business development professionals, and more. Our Data & Platform team is nimble and collaborative, and in preparation for launching a frontier product in EDC, we are currently looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to join our crew! This is a Vancouver-based hybrid position with 3 days per week in-office required.

PREPARE FOR IMPACT! As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will be a core contributor to the research, design, and deployment of scalable machine learning models and analytical solutions that extract meaningful insights from EarthDaily's geospatial and earth observation datasets. You will combine deep expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis to drive decision-making across agriculture, environmental monitoring, and other key verticals — leveraging the EarthDaily Constellation's unique temporal, spectral, and spatial data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and validate machine learning and statistical models to derive insights from large-scale, multi-modal geospatial datasets
  • Explore and analyze EO datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and signals that inform product and business decisions
  • Collaborate with ML engineers and data engineers to productionize models and integrate outputs into EDA's data pipelines
  • Define metrics, design experiments, and conduct rigorous model evaluation and benchmarking
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, demos, and retrospectives
  • Ensure technical documentation is created, maintained, and operational
  • Grow your skillset and share learnings with the broader team

YOUR PAST MISSIONS

  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Geography, or equivalent
  • Advanced degree in machine learning, data science, remote sensing, or a related field is an asset
  • 7+ years of combined experience in data science and/or applied machine learning, including work with geospatial or earth observation data
  • Proven experience building and deploying predictive models on large-scale, complex datasets
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of ML techniques (e.g. regression, classification, clustering, time-series analysis, deep learning)
  • Experience working in cloud environments (e.g. AWS) for large-scale data processing and model training
  • Experience with Agile development, SCRUM, and CICD processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams

YOUR TOOLKIT

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and statistical reasoning skills
  • Proficiency in Python and the scientific stack (e.g. NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Jupyter)
  • Experience with data visualization tools and communicating insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with geospatial and EO tooling (e.g. GDAL, rasterio, xarray) is an asset
  • Knowledge of experimental design, A/B testing, and model validation best practices
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to manage and execute with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

OUR SPACE We'd love to welcome you to our world of software for space. We have a shared passion for building production-critical systems that generate near real-time views of Earth from satellites, powering real-world applications like disaster mitigation, environmental monitoring, and crop yield improvements. It's a fun, fast-paced, exciting environment where we hold innovation, teamwork, honesty, and trust as our core values.

We recognize the role that each of us plays in Diversity and Inclusion at EarthDaily. We draw from a diverse crew of exceptional team members and encourage everyone to express themselves regardless of identity, race, colour, ancestry, religion, marital status, family status, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

YOUR COMPENSATION Base Salary Range: $130,000–$160,000 CAD annually. This range is based on Vancouver, BC-derived compensation for this role and may differ for other geographies. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, education, and location.

WHY EARTHDAILY ANALYTICS?

  • Competitive compensation and flexible time off
  • Be part of a meaningful mission at one of North America's most innovative space companies
  • Great work environment and team, with a waterfront head office in Vancouver, BC

The main changes made: title and framing shifted from ML research to applied data science, responsibilities reoriented toward insight generation and model deployment rather than foundation model architecture, and the toolkit updated to reflect a broader data science skillset. Salary range was also nudged slightly lower to reflect typical market positioning of DS vs. senior ML researcher roles.
