Responsibilities:
- Perform as a technical contributor 60% of the time, with 20% focus on personnel management, and 20% on maturing our DMS integration practice.
- Architect and build scalable integration solutions processing hundreds of thousands of daily transactions across multiple DMS platforms with sub-second latency.
- Solve complex distributed systems challenges, including data consistency, error recovery, circuit breaking, and real-time bidirectional synchronization.
- Ensure reliable data synchronization with DMSes (CDK, Reynolds, DealerTrack, and others), maintaining vendor certifications and compliance requirements.
- Own our in-house Desking solution and Marketscan mScan integration, ensuring dealers can structure deals with real-time payment accuracy, multiple financing options, and OEM incentive optimization.
- Establish and maintain engineering excellence standards for DMS integrations, including data reliability, error handling, monitoring, logging, security compliance, and event replay capabilities.
- Lead the vision for your team's area of responsibility and align with Sr. Leadership through OKR planning and execution.
- Provide technical ownership for your team's contributions to meet engineering standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
- Mentor team members through monthly touchpoints, performance reviews, and professional development planning.
- Develop cross-training matrices and enforce documentation standards to guarantee that at least two team members can perform each critical function, eliminating knowledge silos.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with third-party API integrations and event-driven architectures.
- 2+ years of experience leading technical teams.
- Demonstrate senior-level expertise in C# .NET, APIs, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
- Working knowledge of data transfer protocols (HTTPS, SFTP) and exchange formats (JSON, XML, CSV).
- Working knowledge of OOP and modern design patterns.
- Proven history of designing and developing scalable, testable applications using service-oriented architecture.
- Ability to balance business and technical objectives when making decisions.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Act as a technical communicator for prospective, new, and established integration partners, ensuring clarity in requirements, capabilities, and issue resolution.
- Experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with product, engineering, and customers; internal and external.
Pluses:
- Experience with automotive DMS platforms (CDK, Reynolds, DealerTrack) or automotive retail operations.
- Hands-on experience with .NET 8+, microservice architecture, and Kafka.
- Experience with specific AWS services (SES, S3, EKS, ECS, Route53).
- Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or modern front-end frameworks to facilitate full-stack collaboration.
- Working knowledge of parallel and asynchronous programming techniques.
- Working knowledge of bidirectional integrations and event-driven architecture.
