We're seeking an exceptional software engineer to lead our Site Reliability team. What do we look for in a technical leader? Extreme ownership. Relentless problem solving. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor our growing Site Reliability team (currently 1 direct report with plans to expand) while functioning as the "Protector of Production"
  • Perform as a technical contributor 60% of the time, with 20% focus on personnel management, and 20% on maturing our site reliability practice
  • Proactively identify and mitigate system risks before they impact customers
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement robust metrics, monitoring, and alerting to detect issues before users do
  • Proactively develop proven playbooks and tools for rapid identification and resolution of common failure scenarios
  • Participate in root cause analysis meetings for production incidents and champion relentless improvement
  • Reduce turnaround time to identify root cause, fix, verify, and apply solutions for system issues
  • Mature our site reliability practice such that the engineering division discovers and escalates more issues than our customers report
  • Track incident data to identify patterns and guide system improvements over time

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of full-stack development experience with focus on production system stability
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams
  • Demonstrate senior-level expertise in most of the following technologies: AWS, C# .NET, APIs, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML
  • Experience at all levels of the technology stack - infrastructure, database, API, and frontend
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting web application performance issues
  • A data-driven approach to problem solving and communications
  • Ability to balance urgency with sound decision making during incidents
  • Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
  • A strong sense of ownership and pride in system stability as a competitive advantage

Pluses:

  • Experience establishing or improving site reliability practices within an organization
  • Experience with Elastic APM, Kibana, and/or Grafana
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-driven architectures
  • Experience with automated monitoring and alerting systems
