The Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with a track record of building SaaS e commerce products from 0 to 1. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage product development, has a deep understanding of design systems, UX, and prototyping, and possesses strong technical expertise in the Shopify Partner Development Ecosystem. You will lead efforts to architect and build new e-commerce SaaS solutions, integrating AI-powered capabilities to enhance the user experience and optimize business operations. DRINKS is home-based in Los Angeles; however, we are a remote-first company.

What You’ll do

Drive 0-1 SaaS product development, from concept to scalable production systems.
Architect and build API-driven, AI-powered e-commerce solutions with a focus on UI/UX and seamless merchant integrations.
Lead product prototyping and user experience design, ensuring best-in-class usability and merchant adoption.
Develop and optimize Shopify apps and integrations, leveraging deep knowledge of the Shopify Partner API and ecosystem.
Innovate with AI—implement AI/ML-driven features for personalization, compliance, and automation.
Define and enforce engineering best practices, including CI/CD, observability, and platform scalability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to shape product roadmaps and technical strategy.
Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and rapid iteration.

About You

10+ years of software engineering experience, with extensive experience in SaaS e-commerce product development.
Proven success in 0-1 product development, leading early-stage concepts to scalable SaaS solutions.
Strong expertise in product strategy, design, and UX best practices, with experience shaping user-friendly, dynamic SaaS and e-commerce experiences.
Hands-on experience with AI-powered solutions (recommendation engines, demand forecasting, intelligent automation).
Cloud-native development expertise (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
Excellent coding skills in modern languages (TypeScript/React, Ruby, Python, Go, or similar).
Startup mindset—bias towards action, adaptable to ambiguity, and thrives in high-impact environments.

Nice to Have’s

Deep technical expertise in the Shopify Partner ecosystem, including Shopify APIs, Polaris Design System, App Development, and Storefront customization.
Experience working in regulated industries such as alcohol, cannabis, fintech, or healthcare.
Prior experience leading front-end developer platform initiatives, optimizing component-based architectures, API productization, and seamless third-party integrations within the Shopify ecosystem.
Hands-on experience with AI tools and frameworks, such as LangChain, LangFlow, TensorFlow, PyTorch, large-scale AI/ML platforms, foundation models, and open-source LLM ecosystems.
Strong understanding of AI-powered automation and workflow tools, such as AutoGPT or other agent-based frameworks for workflow orchestration.
Exposure to B2B marketplace architectures and supply chain automation.

Primary Location: Los Angeles, CA

Primary Location Compensation Range: $160,000 - $220,000.00/yr.
