Taxwell brands are a trusted solution for all users including those with complex tax returns. We strive to attract and retain candidates who exemplify our values: performance, perseverance, progress and partnership. Taxwell is an organization of forward thinkers looking to add industry experts to our growing team.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer II to join our TaxAct Pro Desktop team, building the software that professional tax preparers rely on to serve their clients with speed and accuracy each season. This role focuses on maintaining and evolving our flagship native Windows desktop application—critical software that requires precision, reliability, and thoughtful engineering.
This is an ideal role for engineers who have strong fundamentals and want to go deeper into the internals of a mature codebase, into performance-sensitive debugging, and into the kind of platform-level decisions that keep complex systems healthy. You’ll work in both C++ and C#, collaborating with experienced engineers to design, implement, and improve new and existing features across the app and its supporting services.
We value engineers who are curious, thorough, and proactive people who not only implement solutions, but take time to understand why the system works the way it does and how to make it better. You’ll also be expected to integrate AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code to improve your velocity while upholding high-quality engineering practices.
