Software Engineer - Backend

Would you like to build the backend platform that powers streaming and on-demand video for some of the most well-known media brands in the Netherlands?

My client is one of the leading media companies in the Netherlands, reaching millions of users through its websites, apps, audio platforms and video services. They are currently bringing a significant part of their backend development back in-house and are expanding their Backend Services team with several new hires.

You will join the BSD (Backend Services) team, which is responsible for the backend of the Web Experience platform. In this role, you will focus specifically on the services powering video and audio delivery, including VOD, streaming and OTT functionality, working closely with colleagues to build and maintain the platforms behind multimedia content across multiple high-traffic services.

Your profile:

• 3+ years of professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong with AWS and cloud-native development
• Experience with the AWS Elemental stack
• Experience with media platforms, such as VOD, streaming or OTT, is a great plus
• Strong English or Dutch communication skills and comfortable sharing your opinion in technical discussions

The team works with a modern, fully Serverless AWS environment using Node.js and TypeScript. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership and wants to have a direct impact on both the product and the underlying platform, with a particular focus on media and streaming technology.

We are looking for a developer who is technically strong, enjoys collaborating with others, and is confident enough to challenge ideas and contribute during technical discussions.

Salary: up to 80K

Location: Hilversum

WFH: Hybrid (approx 50/50)
