DNI Emerging Technologies is currently looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our company in support of the U.S. Transportation Command Commercial Operations Integrated System (USTRANSCOM COINS).
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Sr. Java Developer to join our growing COINS team. You will be responsible for the refactoring, development, and deployment of a software application that meets the specific needs of our clients. You will work closely with stakeholders, product DevOps teams, managers, and other engineers to ensure successful project delivery. The successful candidate will:
- Administer and optimize relational databases, including Amazon RDS and Oracle 19, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
- Handle database backup, recovery, tuning, and migration tasks in both cloud-based (AWS RDS) and on-premise Oracle environments.
- Collaborate with development teams to design data models and write optimized SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom COINS applications software using Java, JSP, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and product managers to understand and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Implement Agile methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Utilize Git for version control and collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Configure and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Platform One DevOps.
- Implement DevSecOps best practices, including image scanning, secrets management, and vulnerability assessment in Docker containers.
- Develop and maintain backend services using Core Java, J2EE, SOA-based Web Services, RESTful APIs, Hibernate, Spring, MVC, XSD, XML, and WSDL.
- Architect and manage Microservices-based solutions with scalable, containerized environments.
- Perform static code analysis and security scanning using tools like SonarQube, Fortify, Dependency Check, OWASP, ESLint, and Trufflehog.
- Design and implement automated testing frameworks using tools like Cucumber, Cypress, etc.
- Monitor and log application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the software development and database administration fields.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on web-based software development
- Security + certification (or IAT level II equivalent)
- Strong proficiency in Java programming language with experience in JSP and/or the Spring Framework
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Expertise in Git and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Platform One DevOps, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of DevSecOps principles and best practices for containerized environments
- Working knowledge of security tools like SonarQube, Fortify, Dependency Check, OWASP, ESLint, and Trufflehog
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools like Cucumber, Cypress, etc.
- Experience with relational databases including Amazon RDS and Oracle
- Experience with one or more additional programming languages like Python, JavaScript, etc. (a plus)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
