Principal Product Designer

The Role

• You will own design across the company, with product as the primary focus and brand a close second.
• Your primary focus is end-to-end UI and UX for our desktop and conferencing applications, working in close partnership with the founders, product, and engineering on a daily basis.
• Your secondary focus is owning and steering the design system + template library that powers our marketing resources, equipping the GTM team and other internal stakeholders to produce on-brand materials independently.
• You will set the visual language for a category-defining product from scratch, with meaningful influence over how Diopter shows up in the market.
• You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and are expected to step in across the business wherever thoughtful design unlocks the next milestone.

What You'll Do

• Lead the end-to-end design of our desktop and conferencing product, including research synthesis, user flows, interaction models, high-fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes.
• Partner closely with engineering on specification, handoff, and shipped quality, ensuring the bar holds from Figma through to production.
• Architect and maintain a scalable design system in Figma, including design tokens, component libraries, usage guidelines, and supporting documentation.
• Develop the brand templates and visual foundations that allow our GTM team to produce marketing materials, sales collateral, and content at speed without compromising on quality.
• Translate complex security and AI concepts into interfaces and visuals that feel calm, credible, and immediately understandable to non-technical end users.
• Operate with velocity, integrating modern AI tooling into your process to expand the scope of what a single designer can ship.

Who You Are

• You have 5+ years of design experience and a portfolio that demonstrates both depth in product UI and UX and range across brand and marketing surfaces.
• You have deep fluency in Figma and have personally built and maintained a production design system, not simply contributed to one.
• You are native to AI design tooling. Claude is part of your daily workflow; you have hands-on experience with tools like paper.design, Higgsfield, etc. and you are continuously evaluating and integrating new tools into your practice.
• You have shipped zero-to-one work or operated inside a high-velocity startup serving a large user base, and you are comfortable making consequential decisions in ambiguous environments.
• You bring high personal agency, with a track record of identifying where design can move the business forward and acting without waiting for direction.
• You are deeply aligned with Diopter's mission and feel genuine ownership over the brand we are building.
• You have a distinctive point of view and a clear design taste that is visible across your work.
• You communicate with clarity, push back thoughtfully on product and business decisions, and treat design as a strategic function rather than an execution layer.

Bonus

• Demonstrated experience designing ambient systems and notification management, particularly in environments where attention and signal density matter.
• Prior work in cybersecurity, trust and safety, or adjacent high-stakes domains.
• Experience designing for agentic AI products or AI-native consumer and prosumer applications.
• Experience designing for developer-facing tools or technical end users.
