DFAD is looking for an experienced Dialogue Designer with strong knowledge of Wwise + Unity implementation pipelines and a solid understanding of how dialogue systems support narrative design. You’ve previously built and shipped complex dialogue systems and dialogue acoustics in Unity and Wwise, and can rapidly prototype, integrate, and refine them.

You’ll work on a dramatic, narrative-driven indie game on the team with Dialogue Editors, the Audio Director, Game Designer, Voice Director, and Voice Actors to translate narrative intent into an effective in-engine dialogue experience.

Responsibilities (what you will do):

  • Prototype, build, and refine dialogue systems in Wwise and Unity (C#)
  • Implement and organize dialogue assets, events, and logic across gameplay and cinematics
  • Develop and maintain implementation pipelines.
  • Conduct in-engine reviews to verify playback quality, synchronization, and narrative cohesion, and contribute to overall QC

Minimum Qualifications (who you are):

  • Must have experience implementing dialogue systems in Unity and Wwise
  • 4+ years of experience with at least one shipped narrative-driven or dialogue-focused title
  • Deep understanding of Wwise+Unity integration, including events, switches, RTPCs, dialogue containers, and runtime behaviors
  • Ability to design and maintain clear implementation structures and documentation for scalable dialogue workflows
  • Comfortable with debugging, testing, and refining dialogue logic in-engine
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of ownership in delivering exceptional results
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow security and confidentiality protocols
  • Native-level comprehension of English (Spoken + Written)

Ideal Qualifications (what we prefer):

  • Experience with branching dialogue logic and adaptive narrative systems
  • Proficiency in C# scripting for automation or dialogue tool development in Unity
  • Familiarity with real-time mixing, spatial audio, subtitles and localization workflows
  • Interest in storytelling and emotional design through voice and sound
  • Bonus: An understanding of music structure, rhythm, and tone

This is a full-time contract role with an anticipated duration of approximately two months. The position is remote and open to candidates in and around Budapest, Hungary. For effective collaboration with our local teams, you will typically be expected to work during Hungary business hours, with working hours following 9:00AM-6:30PM for the first week, then 9:00AM-5PM for the remaining duration of the contract.

Base pay will be determined by the Hungarian market and may vary based on skills, experience, and other objective factors. Total compensation may include discretionary bonus or equity awards, in addition to statutory contributions required under Hungarian law. These include employer social tax and employee social security contributions covering health insurance and pension. For short-term contracts, statutory entitlements such as paid annual leave and sick leave are applied proportionally for the contract period, in accordance with the Hungarian Labour Code. Employers in Hungary may also provide tax-advantaged “cafeteria” benefits such as the SZÉP Card or voluntary pension fund support. Detailed information will be provided in your offer of employment, and all compensation and benefits will comply with Hungarian labour regulations.
