Job Title: AI Data Scientist

Location: Fully Remote (Preference for candidates in Minnesota)

Duration: 9 months to start, with a long-term roadmap

Job Description:

We are looking for an AI Data Scientist to join our team working on cutting-edge projects in the healthcare domain. This role will involve working with both engineering and business teams to create and implement innovative machine learning solutions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in AI and machine learning, with a focus on healthcare applications, especially in medical coding.

Responsibilities:

• Write concept papers and take ideas from inception to implementation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Business, and Technical Product teams to meet project commitments in an agile framework, rapidly delivering value to customers via technology solutions.
• Mentor junior data scientists to help them successfully deliver software and business value.
• Continuously improve alerts, monitoring, and telemetry systems.
• Work with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and colleagues to identify new approaches to problems in the medical coding field.
• Design and implement novel machine learning methods, deploying them to production with the help of data engineers and deployment software engineers.
• Conduct independent analysis of trends in medical coding and production performance of statistical models.
• Demonstrate leadership in machine learning engineering and guide the research direction of a multidisciplinary team focused on deep learning and LLM approaches.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning and deep learning, leading and participating in research talks and white paper reviews.
• Ensure machine learning models align with ethical standards to ensure they perform without harm to users.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning or data science, including data analysis, algorithm design, and model architecture specification.
• 4+ years of experience working with teams using at least three of the following technologies: continuous integration/continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), public/private cloud, web applications, web services, application observability, and/or messaging/stream architecture.
• Experience with machine learning model development, transformer architectures, and data trend analysis.
• 4+ years of coding experience in Python or R, with expertise in libraries such as PyTorch, HuggingFace, and pandas.
• 1+ years of production experience with cloud and big data technologies.
• 1+ years of agile development experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without any restrictions (proof will be required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• M.S. or PhD in a computational domain.
• Experience with SQL databases and query language.
• Experience with AzureML, AWS, or cluster computing architectures.
• Experience with Hybrid NLP solutions combining symbolic and machine learning approaches.
• Experience with XML and XSLT.
• Proven background in the healthcare domain.
