Interior Design, Ancillary Design Specialist
Overview/Position Summary
Works independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop interior space solutions to meet customer needs. Develops libraries of curated products and solutions informed by commercial furnishing trends and typologies. Will frequently collaborate with Sales, Coordination, and Project Management teams, as well as Design Leadership, Strategic Sourcing and Marketing. Involved in design projects and related tasks from inception to final installation.
This position has a heavy emphasis on Ancillary products. Systems knowledge is required. However, a broad and deep knowledge of Ancillary products is strongly preferred.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, AA degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school will be considered. Must have at least one-year experience in the Design field. Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred. Prior experience with system furniture products a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Physical Requirements
Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices. Must be able to get to project sites. Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time.
Work Environment
Regularly works alone or may work with others face to face, over the phone, Video Calls, and through email/text.
Responsibilities:
Participate in RFP responses and interviews and serve as an expert consultant on RFPs and projects.
Uncover customer challenges.
Produce complete design concepts.
Generate, organize and maintain CAD/CET files.
Draw, revise, and plot design drawings and produce space plans.
Select and specify furniture, materials, products and finishes.
Develop floor plans and installation drawings.
Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.
Contact vendors for pricing and information.
Present design concepts to customers.
Perform peer audits when necessary.
Meet, develop and maintain a high level of customer and vendor engagement.
Curate product libraries and collections.
Maintain communication with and markets to Sales and Design teams.
Partner with Sales on engagements/workshops with customer/A&D.
Assist with design proposals and presentations.
Estimate budgetary hours and manage project hours and time entry.
Work with local teams to perform field verification and inventory.
Conduct product research and data collection.
