Location: 100% Remote

Reports To: Design Director

Compensation: $85/hr - $100/hr

Duration: Contract, 12+ Months, 40/hrs per week

Our client, a mission-driven organization at the intersection of health and science, is seeking a Senior Product Designer – Design Systems for a 12+ month contract. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on crafting and scaling design systems, bringing together brand, usability, and technical clarity across an ecosystem of digital products.

In this role, you’ll own the evolution of a cross-platform system that empowers product teams to build faster, more cohesively, and with greater impact. You’ll bring strong UX and visual design fundamentals to a mature design org, working alongside engineers, researchers, and content strategists to elevate consistency, accessibility, and beauty at scale.

What You’ll Do

Design Systems Leadership

• Create and maintain scalable, accessible design system components, documentation, and tooling

• Align UI patterns with brand standards and user needs across responsive web and mobile platforms

• Audit existing products to identify visual and UX inconsistencies, and lead refactoring efforts to drive alignment

UX & Visual Design Craft

• Translate brand and experience principles into reusable, systematized components

• Define usage guidelines and edge case behaviors to ensure clarity across teams

• Collaborate on prototypes and high-fidelity assets to demonstrate interaction patterns in context

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with product designers, engineers, and content teams to implement and evolve the system

• Advocate for accessibility and usability across the design ecosystem (WCAG, usability heuristics)

• Contribute to team rituals and reviews, mentoring other designers in systems thinking and component-level design

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2+ years focused on design systems

• A portfolio that demonstrates your role in building or scaling design systems within larger, well-known organizations

• Expertise in Figma (components, tokens, libraries, documentation workflows)

• Deep understanding of layout, spacing, hierarchy, responsive design, and accessibility standards

• Strong systems thinking and attention to design details, from pixels to patterns

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines
