Who We Are

We are Design Citizen, a human-centered talent agency partnering with organizations to create innovative, inclusive, and sustainable business solutions through design.

Our client, a global leader at the intersection of health and science, is seeking a Lead UX / Visual Designer to help define the next generation of digital experiences that empower research scientists and enterprise teams. This is a hands-on, Principal-level role for a designer who excels at turning complex systems into intuitive, elegant interfaces—someone equally fluent in UX strategy and refined visual craft.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll play a key role in shaping tools that support scientific research and enterprise collaboration. Working as part of a human-centered design team, you’ll translate user insights into thoughtful workflows, prototypes, and interfaces that simplify complexity and elevate the user experience.

This position calls for a designer who can balance analytical thinking with aesthetic sensitivity. You’ll help ensure consistency across a suite of internal digital products, blending functionality and visual harmony in ways that feel effortless to the end user.

Key Responsibilities

Experience Design

  • Define user journeys, workflows, and interface patterns that make enterprise systems intuitive and efficient.
  • Translate research and stakeholder input into clear design concepts, prototypes, and deliverables.
  • Conduct workshops and brainstorming sessions to explore ideas, align teams, and refine user flows.
  • Present design rationale and recommendations to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

Visual Craft & Consistency

  • Create high-fidelity mockups and prototypes that elevate the brand’s visual identity while enhancing usability.
  • Ensure consistency with current design standards and contribute to the evolution of shared UX patterns.
  • Collaborate with other designers to maintain cohesion across a portfolio of digital products and tools.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner closely with product management, engineering, and research to align design decisions with user needs and technical feasibility.
  • Provide thoughtful critique and guidance to peers, fostering a collaborative and high-quality design culture.
  • Contribute thought leadership by staying informed on evolving design trends, methods, and technologies relevant to enterprise UX.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in UX and Visual Design for complex web applications or enterprise software.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, clear problem solving, and refined interface design.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma, along with a solid understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and usability testing.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly and persuasively to a wide range of collaborators.
  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to influence, mentor, and inspire without formal authority.
