Senior Data Analyst

Derflan is seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Engineer V / Senior Data Analyst to join our consulting team supporting a global technology client’s Prime organization. This high-impact role centers on evaluating customer behavior and program performance to inform and drive global marketing strategy. You will work at the intersection of analytics, marketing, product, and data science, delivering insights that shape how one of the world’s most customer-centric businesses grows and engages its user base.

Job Title: Business Intelligence Engineer V / Senior Data Analyst – Customer Behavior & Marketing Analytics (Consultant Role)

Location: Remote – San Francisco, CA (Although this is a remote role, our client prefers candidates based in the San Francisco area for occasional in-person meetings.)

Contract Duration: 9 months (Start Date: ASAP)

Annual Base Salary: $205,000

Remote Option: 100% Remote

Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, Pacific Time core hours

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Program Analysis

• Evaluate the performance of program features and marketing campaigns based on customer engagement, retention, and conversion

• Conduct deep dives into customer behavior to uncover unusual patterns, trends, and growth opportunities

• Apply data mining, clustering, segmentation, and predictive modeling to understand and forecast customer behavior

Experimentation & Insights

• Design and execute A/B and multivariate tests to measure user behavior and feature adoption

• Translate business questions into structured analytical investigations, partnering with key stakeholders to define goals and methods

Reporting & Visualization

• Build and maintain dashboards and health metrics that provide business-critical visibility into Prime program performance

• Present insights and recommendations to marketing, product, and strategy teams in a clear, actionable format

Strategic Contribution

• Participate in cross-functional planning sessions to inform roadmap and campaign strategy with data-driven insights

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working with large-scale complex datasets

• Advanced proficiency in SQL with proven ability to synthesize data from multiple sources

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions

• Professional or academic background in statistics, programming, marketing, or a related field

• Graduate degree in math, statistics, computer science, or marketing (highly desirable)

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data visualization tools such as Amazon QuickSight or Tableau

• Familiarity with SAS, Python, or R for statistical modeling and analysis

• Background in technology or ecommerce environments

• Hands-on experience with A/B testing platforms and experimentation frameworks

• Previous consulting experience supporting enterprise-scale business or marketing teams
