Position Overview:
Degree Wellness has embarked on an exciting national franchise expansion, and we need a hardworking, organized, and process-driven professional to be our new Project Manager for New Store Development.
In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of new store development—from real estate coordination and construction management to procurement and final handoff. Degree Wellness is a franchised brand, and you will serve as a key corporate representative, working closely with franchisees and third-party partners to open boutique retail wellness locations nationwide.
You will coordinate across real estate brokers, architects, engineers, general contractors, and vendors to ensure each store launches on time, on budget, and in alignment with our brand standards. This role requires excellent project management skills, fluency in reviewing architectural and MEP drawings, and the ability to manage multiple openings simultaneously across multiple states and time zones.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full development lifecycle of new store openings from lease signing through construction and grand opening
- Act as the main liaison between Degree Wellness corporate, franchise owners, and third-party partners
- Support real estate due diligence and site feasibility reviews in partnership with national real estate brokerage
- Review and coordinate architectural plans, MEP drawings, and site plans for compliance with brand standards and operational needs
- Coordinate permitting, inspections, and certificate of occupancy processes with franchisees and local jurisdictions
- Oversee third party construction manager as they solicit and manage bids from general contractors and construction vendors; track construction budgets and timelines
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking critical milestones and ensuring timely decision-making using project management tools
- Oversee procurement and delivery of key FF&E and store-specific equipment
- Ensure that all new stores meet Degree Wellness brand and quality standards at handover
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in multi-site retail, fitness/wellness, or franchise store development
- Strong understanding of architectural and MEP plans, retail construction processes, and permitting requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors, architects, vendors, and internal stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects
- Experience with both white box and cold dark shell tenant improvements
- Highly organized and deadline-driven
- Ability to travel periodically to job sites (up to 10%)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Experience working in a franchised business environment a strong plus
