About the Role
Deca is hiring a senior technical operator to lead and manage the interface between product development and production deployment. The Head of DevOps will play a pivotal role in transforming our technology infrastructure. This role combines hands-on engineering, operational discipline, and collaborative leadership to ensure production systems are stable, secure, compliant, and testable. As our first dedicated hire in this domain, you will take ownership of production deployment, QA/UAT processes, incident handling, and compliance readiness. You will work closely with Deca’s existing product development and platform engineering team, as well as Deca leadership, to define and implement operational best practices.
This is a high-trust execution role—you will operate with autonomy and accountability, but within a clearly defined scope and leadership framework. Your focus will be delivering against known requirements, improving production reliability, and contributing to cross-functional standards and processes.

Production Deployment & Reliability
- Manage and execute Git-based production deployments.
- Maintain a production runbook covering rollback, health checks, and escalation procedures.
- Implement deployment validation workflows (e.g. smoke tests, UAT checks).
- Maintain production-specific automation scripts and operations tooling.
Security Operations & Access Control
- Implement and manage Google Cloud IAM policies and resource boundaries.
- Define and enforce key management procedures for production access.
- Apply and maintain RBAC configurations across services and infrastructure.
- Work with stakeholders to align security configurations with access and audit requirements.
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Develop and maintain internal documentation for audit readiness, including data classification and operational controls.
- Create response playbooks and documentation to support future RFPs, vendor questionnaires, or third-party audits.
- Maintain and evolve operational policies in collaboration with platform and compliance stakeholders.
- Support Operations & Incident Management
- Define and document production support workflows, including triage and escalation paths.
- Build and maintain the incident response plan, including breach scenarios and communication procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to ensure production issues are handled smoothly and transparently.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing production infrastructure and deployment in a cloud environment (GCP preferred).
- Deep familiarity with CI/CD tooling, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience implementing IAM, key rotation, and least-privilege access controls.
- Familiarity with audit frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar (formal certification experience not required).
- Strong written communication skills and experience documenting processes, standards, and runbooks.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and security/compliance teams.
- Hands-on contributor who can also set and enforce operational discipline.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or production infrastructure experience.
- Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm).
- Proven ability to manage production environments in GCP (preferred) or AWS.
- Experience with access control, IAM, and audit-readiness frameworks.
- Strong written communication skills for documenting processes and protocols.
- Comfortable balancing execution with strategic planning and cross-functional leadership.
- Bilingual: Spanish and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in the finance industry.
- Certifications in cloud technologies or DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Skills
The required skills in CI/CD practices will be utilized daily to streamline software delivery processes, ensuring that new features and updates are deployed efficiently. Proficiency in cloud platforms will enable the Head of DevOps to manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and security. Scripting skills will be essential for automating repetitive tasks and enhancing operational workflows. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools will allow for effective management of application deployments, ensuring consistency across environments. Preferred skills, such as experience in the finance sector, will provide valuable insights into industry-specific challenges and compliance requirements, further enhancing the team's effectiveness.
