dbt Cloud, our rapidly growing SaaS platform, has ambitious goals to enhance its platform capabilities in the year ahead. We are forming a new team in Romania called Cloud Signals to build essential platform features like notifications, webhooks, and infrastructure-as-code integrations.

As a newly formed team within dbt Labs, Cloud Signals needs senior technical leadership to establish our platform integration strategy. As dbt Cloud evolves and grows, this person will help design and implement new platform capabilities from the ground up, ensuring we provide robust integration points for our customers. This co-located team will work closely with customers and the broader engineering organization to deliver scalable solutions that enhance the dbt Cloud platform.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Evolve dbt’s architecture to keep up with our fast growing customer base and scaling needs
  • Be a key contributor to the development of dbt Cloud and its terraform provider
  • Be an advocate for software engineering best practices
  • Develop a robust software framework for seamlessly developing application platform features into dbt Cloud.
  • Collaborate closely with the OSS community, product teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Have minimum 3 years experience as a software engineer
  • Previous experience with SaaS products (SOA preferred)
  • Minimum requirement of Bachelors degree in related field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.)
  • Have an excellent level of English, both written and spoken

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have strong fundamentals in a variety of software development paradigms (e.g. object oriented, functional)
  • Have worked on distributed systems at scale
  • Are comfortable managing ambiguity and driving clarity and innovation
  • Understand how to make tradeoffs to ship useful features today without sacrificing long-term quality
  • Are highly motivated and able to build alignment across stakeholders

You'll have an edge if:

  • Value interacting with end users and deeply understanding their needs
  • Have experience working with Rust
  • Have worked on growing teams developing in a large OSS code base
  • Have worked with notification (e.g. email, Slack, others) systems
  • Have direct experience with using dbt
  • Have experience working on a distributed team

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is an FTE role only (CIM)
  • Salary: 238000-288000 RON gross/ year
  • Equity Stake

  • Equity or comparable benefits may be offered depending on the legal limitations
