Were Looking for a Software Engineer

Were seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Contractor) to join a mission-critical healthcare platform used by a leading U.S. organization to compute national healthcare quality measures.

This role focuses on backend development in .NET, working with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and CQL. Youll be contributing to a mature, production-grade system operating in a highly regulated environment, where quality, security, and correctness are essential.

This is not a greenfield project. The ideal candidate is comfortable understanding existing systems, evolving them carefully, and taking ownership of complex backend logic.

What Youll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET / C#
• Work with healthcare data models and pipelines based on FHIR standards
• Implement and maintain CQL-based logic for clinical quality measure execution
• Contribute to upgrades and maintenance of the CQL Engine (e.g., Firely SDK)
• Develop and maintain APIs and background processing jobs (e.g., Hangfire or similar)
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and client technical teams
• Participate in production support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and documentation
• Contribute to technical documentation, release notes, and operational guidelines
• Work within Agile/Scrum processes, participating in sprint ceremonies

What You Bring

Must-Haves

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET / C# in production environments
• Practical experience working with FHIR (R4 or newer)
• Familiarity with CQL (Clinical Quality Language) or execution of clinical quality measures
• Experience building and integrating complex backend systems and APIs
• Understanding of distributed systems and background processing
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications
• Strong communication skills and solid technical documentation habits
• Fluent English for daily collaboration with U.S.-based teams

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with USCore or other FHIR implementation guides
• Exposure to HEDIS or healthcare quality measurement systems
• Experience maintaining or upgrading CQL engines (Firely SDK or similar)
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, OWASP, or secure coding standards
• Previous experience acting as a technical reference or senior contributor within a team
