Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Security Data Scientist to join our cybersecurity team. In this role, you will utilize advanced data science and machine learning techniques to develop models and algorithms that detect and mitigate security threats. You will work with large datasets to uncover patterns, anomalies, and emerging cyber threats, helping to build intelligent systems that proactively defend against security breaches.
Key Responsibilities: - Data Analysis: Analyze large volumes of security-related data, including logs, network traffic, and threat intelligence, to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential threats. - Model Development: Build and deploy machine learning models that detect cyber threats such as malware, phishing, insider threats, and advanced persistent threats (APTs). - Threat Detection: Develop and improve real-time threat detection algorithms and anomaly
detection systems using statistical and machine learning techniques. - Feature Engineering: Extract relevant features from unstructured and structured data to enhance model performance and accuracy in threat detection. - Collaboration: Work closely with cybersecurity experts, data engineers, and software developers to integrate data science solutions into existing security systems and workflows. - Automation: Develop automated pipelines for continuous monitoring and detection of security threats, ensuring proactive protection and timely alerts. - Research and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest research in cybersecurity, data science, and machine learning to drive innovation and improve threat detection capabilities. - Reporting and Visualization: Present findings and insights to stakeholders through visualizations and reports, helping inform decisions on security posture and incident response strategies. - Data Integrity and Ethics: Ensure the integrity, privacy, and security of all data used in models and analyses, adhering to ethical data science practices and industry standards.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Proven experience as a Data Scientist, preferably within the cybersecurity field or related industries. - Strong expertise in machine learning algorithms (supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, etc.) and statistical analysis techniques. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar, with experience in data manipulation, model building, and deployment. - Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn. - Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including common attack vectors, malware analysis, and threat detection. - Experience with security tools like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) platforms, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network traffic analysis. - Familiarity with cloud security environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and securing cloud-based data. - Experience working with large, complex datasets (e.g., logs, network traffic, threat intelligence feeds) and performing data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation. - Understanding of data privacy, governance, and security principles, particularly in the context of sensitive and personally identifiable information (PII). - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills: - Advanced knowledge of deep learning techniques and neural networks. - Experience in time series analysis and anomaly detection techniques. - Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar. - Experience with cyber threat intelligence feeds, malware analysis, and threat hunting. - Familiarity with incident response and forensics. - Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Data Science-related certifications are a plus.
