Crossing Hurdles is a global recruitment consultancy partnering with a fast-growing startup focused on an automated back-office platform. The startup has raised an $18m Series A.

  • Role - Design/ Frontend Engineer
  • Location - Remote or In-office NYC
  • Required Tech Stack - TypeScript, React, Nextjs, Tailwind, CSS, Figma
  • Compensation - $140k - $230k + 0.15-0.25% Equity
  • Benefits - Full benefits (medical, dental, vision, dependents) and Travel stipend

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–6 years as an engineer with strong design thinking and visual skills.
  • Background: Prior experience at a startup or digital agency preferred.
  • Design Skills: Proficiency in Figma and product design; portfolio featuring fintech, payments, data-heavy, or marketplace products.
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of CSS and related technologies.
  • Mindset: Creative, scrappy, and ambitious with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Bonus: Former founders (even with failed startups) are highly valued.
  • Education: Formal degree not required — self-taught or unconventional paths welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Design: Build and maintain scalable design systems for web and mobile, ensuring consistent user experiences.
  • Growth & Branding: Create marketing assets, landing pages, and event materials aligned with brand identity.
  • Design Systems: Develop and evolve component libraries, design tokens, and documentation for efficient collaboration.
  • Prototyping: Rapidly prototype and validate new features using design tools and AI.
  • Workflow Optimization: Improve internal design processes, handoffs, and visual QA workflows.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and sales to turn business goals into user-centered designs.
  • Strategic Design: Shape long-term product vision by simplifying complex workflows and enhancing usability.
