UX Designer III
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months contract
Pay: $60+/hour

The UX/UI Designer II will deeply understand and champion end user needs, synthesize them into personas, design flows and prototypes to test in order to solve complex problems in ways that end users love and that work for the business. The individual in this role will discover, frame and solve problems with creativity and analytical thinking, using research, data, and industry best practices to make design decisions in engagements with cross-functional business teams.
In addition, the UX/UI Designer II will apply their knowledge of design thinking methodology, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design to influence human-centric experiences across multiple projects, ultimately creating intuitive, innovative, and beautiful interfaces that people are drawn to use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the scope of specific assignments and best practices defined by the Research and Design team, the UX/UI Designer II demonstrates independence and influence in these key areas:
- Research & Insights: Bringing a point of view on data collection methods and framing of insights in order to identify problems and validate solutions through research
- User Experience Design: Leveraging user-centric methods to effectively orient underlying models with end-user needs
- User Interface Design: Illustrating their ideas and understanding of foundational principles of design at an application level through prototyping, interaction design, and compelling visual design
- Domain Expertise: Deepening their expertise about the end users they support, Product fundamentals, the technology landscape at RBS, and the business of grocery retail
- Process Leadership: Collaborating with cross-functional peers on the process and approach for identifying end-user needs and solving problems with new and defined tactics from RBS Research & Design toolkit
- People Proficiency: Promoting R&D team culture, deepening trust with their internal network, developing informal leadership in group settings, and beginning to support recruiting and onboarding
- Portfolio Execution: Driving their projects, asking for direction as needed to define approach, adhere to design standards, achieve intended outcomes and exhibit team values
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design or relevant field; equivalent certifications from an accredited program in UX/UI, human-computer interaction, information science, digital media, product design, or on-the-job experience will be considered
- 3 or more years relevant work experience with design, project management, and development processes including Agile/Scrum
- Experience facilitating workshops and gaining consensus among large, diverse groups of cross-functional stakeholders
- Expert use of storytelling and end-to end thinking at sketch/concept and workflow levels
- Expert use of collaborative design and prototyping tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Mural, Miro, Figma, InVision, and Sketch
- In-depth knowledge of design research methods, such as contextual inquiry, card sorting, and usability testing
- In-depth knowledge of user interface models, application design, and website functionality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Familiar with computer information systems, data analysis fundamentals, and data visualization tools and technologies, such as PowerBI
- Familiar with front-end languages including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Key Skills: UX Design principles and deliverables, including human-centered approaches, generative user research methods, user personas, service blueprints, information architecture, wireframes and knowledge of product development lifecycle, collaboration and results orientation
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in relevant field of study
- Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study
- 1 or more years of on-the-job experience in Agile teams and/or product design
- Experience in retail or grocery
