Do you want to help make the world safe from cyber attack? At Corelight, we believe that the best approach to cybersecurity risk starts with the network. Attackers can evade endpoint detection, firewalls and many other technologies - but they can't avoid leaving digital footprints on the networks they traverse. Built on open-source innovations from Zeek, Suricata and YARA and refined through years of real-world use, Corelight transforms network footprints from physical, virtual and cloud networks into actionable insights. Our customers use these insights to speed incident response and proactively hunt for threats.

As a Lead Software Engineer on the Infrastructure & Cloud Services (ICS) team, you are the architect behind the platforms that empower our defenders. You occupy the vital intersection of backend engineering and cloud-native infrastructure, ensuring our internal and customer-facing services are secure, observable, and infinitely scalable. By championing an "everything as code" philosophy, you won't just build services—you'll shape the very foundation of how Corelight's cloud ecosystem evolves to meet the world's toughest cybersecurity challenges.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Architect Cloud-Native Services: Design and build scalable services and RESTful APIs using Go, Laravel, and Filament, optimized for both containerized and serverless (Lambda) runtimes.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code: Define and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to ensure application environments are repeatable, secure, and compliant across AWS.
  • Optimize Performance & Reliability: Lead efforts in application performance tuning, focusing on queue optimization, caching strategies, and database efficiency (PostgreSQL).
  • Enhance Observability & CI/CD: Implement deep observability (metrics, logging, tracing) within application code and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated, reliable deployments.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Establish best practices for application development and cloud architecture while mentoring engineers to increase overall team velocity.
  • Maintain System Integrity: Contribute to production incident response and root cause analysis, participating in a 24-hour on-call rotation for critical availability and security incidents.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities needed to be successful:

  • Strategic Architectural Thinking: Ability to design for multi-tenant SaaS environments with security and scalability as first principles.
  • Technical Discernment: A sharp eye for performance bottlenecks in distributed systems and the "applied curiosity" to evaluate emerging cloud-native tooling.
  • Collaborative Mentorship: A passion for elevating others by defining clear development standards and fostering a growth-oriented engineering culture.
  • Operational Excellence: An SRE mindset that values clean, maintainable, and well-tested code as the primary driver for reducing mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR).
  • Radical Transparency: You understand that in a 100% remote environment, silence is a blocker. You proactively broadcast your progress, surface obstacles before they become crises, and ensure your stakeholders are never in the dark.
  • Extreme Ownership: You have a "run toward the fire" mindset. You take full responsibility for end-to-end outcomes, ensuring that ambiguous problems are solved—even when they fall between the cracks of defined roles—for the sake of the customer.
  • Applied Curiosity: You have a passion for understanding the "why" behind technical challenges and a drive to constantly improve distributed systems.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on enterprise-grade backend systems.
  • Laravel Expertise: Deep proficiency in Laravel architecture (service containers, queues, events, jobs, and Eloquent).
  • AWS Mastery: Hands-on experience deploying and managing services via AWS (EKS, RDS, CloudFront, S3, IAM).
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platforms.
  • Data & Caching: Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL), caching systems (Redis/Valkey), and queue orchestration.
  • Modern Tooling: Experience with Terraform for IaC and GitLab for modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).

Fueled by investments from top-tier venture capital organizations such as Crowdstrike, Accel and Insight, Corelight is the fastest growing network detection and response platform in the industry. Our customers trust us to protect mission-critical assets in leading enterprises, government, and research institutions worldwide. We are leading the way with AI-assisted
