Opportunity to be on the ground floor of a well funded startup nearing profitability
We are a fast growing technology startup that is well funded and part of a small percentage of companies nearing profitability and growing very quickly. This means your direct work will get implemented on a large consumer scale.
Role Description
At Copper, product design does not stop at shipping features. We need a designer who thinks beyond the interface. Someone who designs the experience and how it is understood, both inside the product and across lifecycle touchpoints. This role makes sure every feature is built well, introduced clearly, and reinforced in a way users can trust and act on.
What you will do
- Design end-to-end product experiences across onboarding, earning, and monetization flows.
- Translate product direction into clear user flows and high-quality UI. Deliver production-ready designs with all states and edge cases covered.
- Define how new features show up in the product. First-time use, prompts, and guidance. Decide what should be intuitive and what needs to be explained.
- Shape how features are communicated outside the product. What users need to know, the key messages, and where lifecycle touchpoints should reinforce the experience across push, email, and in-app.
- Partner with lifecycle and growth teams so what is built and what is communicated stay in sync.
- Make sure users understand what to do, why it matters, and how to get value. Use data and user behavior to refine and improve core flows.
How you think
- You design for clarity and understanding.
- You know when to rely on UX and when to guide with messaging.
- You think across the full journey, not just screens.
- You connect product experience with lifecycle touchpoints.
- You simplify and focus on what drives user action.
What you will focus on
- Activation. First experience, first action, first purchase.
- Monetization. Clarity of earning and spending flows.
- Retention. Reinforcing value through product and lifecycle.
What you bring
- 5+ years of product design experience, with exposure to growth, marketing, or customer-facing experiences.
- A strong portfolio that shows end-to-end thinking across product experiences and user journeys. Shipped product, not just concepts.
- Systems thinking. You design scalable, cohesive experiences, not one-off screens.
- Strong fundamentals across UX, interaction design, and visual design.
- Experience designing onboarding, activation, or monetization flows.
- The ability to simplify complex features and make them easy to understand.
- Comfort thinking beyond the product surface, including how features are introduced and reinforced across lifecycle touchpoints.
- Experience contributing to or building design systems and reusable components.
- Ability to prototype quickly, iterate, and communicate ideas clearly.
- Strong collaboration with product, engineering, and growth partners.
- A clear communicator who can defend design decisions and challenge ideas when needed.
- Ability to move quickly, prioritize, and balance speed with quality.
What good looks like
- Features are easy to understand and adopt.
- In-product and lifecycle experiences feel connected.
- Users know what to do and why it matters.
- Design improves activation, monetization, and retention.
Who you will work with
Cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Data Science, and Legal.
How we work
- Build first, refine fast. We do not spend weeks on briefs.
- User benefit sits at the center. If we cannot explain why a user should care, we are not done.
