Role Description

Contollo Consulting is seeking a Fullstack Software Engineer for a 3-month contract engagement supporting our client’s engineering team. This is a fully remote opportunity with a tentative start date of April 2nd.

In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of end-to-end product features across both backend and frontend systems. The engineer will work within an established codebase and development process, requiring the ability to quickly ramp up, deliver production-ready features, and collaborate effectively with distributed teams.

This role is best suited for an experienced engineer who is comfortable owning full stack implementations, working independently within sprint cycles, and maintaining strong engineering standards. Please note that this is a short-term engagement with a low likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement complete full-stack features from concept to production.
Develop backend services and APIs using PHP (MVC frameworks) and Node.js.
Build and enhance Angular-based web applications.
Implement responsive UI components using HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
Design, optimize, and maintain relational database queries.
Refactor and improve existing code to enhance maintainability and performance.
Strengthen automated test coverage where appropriate.
Participate in peer code reviews and maintain engineering best practices.
Deliver committed sprint work consistently and independently.

Required Qualifications

Language & Communication

Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed engineering teams.
Comfortable participating in code reviews, sprint discussions, and technical problem-solving sessions.

Technical Expertise

5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong PHP development experience within an MVC framework such as Symfony, Laravel, Zend, CakePHP, or similar.
Strong Node.js experience using frameworks such as NestJS, Express, or similar.
Strong experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or equivalent.
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Experience building Single Page Applications (SPAs).
Proven ability to quickly ramp up in an existing codebase and begin contributing within 1–2 weeks.
Demonstrated ability to independently implement features across both backend and frontend layers.

Engineering Fundamentals

Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable application design.
Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
Familiarity with code refactoring and performance optimization techniques.
Experience working within Agile or Scrum development environments.

Nice to Have

Strong Angular (2+) experience.
Experience with additional SPA frameworks such as React or Vue.
Experience working with serverless backend services.
Experience improving automated test coverage in mature systems.
Experience working with transaction-heavy or e-commerce platforms.
Experience collaborating with distributed or offshore engineering teams.
