DevOps/Software Engineer Lead

Job Title: DevOps Capability Lead – 13256

Location: Remote (occasional day trips to London)

Salary: £80,000 per annum

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced DevOps Capability Lead to drive best practices and technical leadership across multiple projects. This role combines hands-on engineering with advisory responsibilities, helping shape and implement effective DevOps strategies across delivery teams.

You will play a critical role in building and maintaining infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and supporting development environments, while also guiding teams on optimal DevOps practices and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts using Ansible, Docker, and Python
• Create and enhance Azure DevOps pipelines for builds and deployments (Java, Docker, Ansible, etc.)
• Manage Linux-based DevTest environments and related Azure infrastructure
• Act as a DevOps SME, supporting solution design and delivery across the organisation
• Provide guidance on best practices, tooling, and DevOps strategy across diverse projects

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong expertise with Azure, Ansible, Docker, Azure DevOps, ADO Pipelines, and Linux
• Background as a Software Engineer
• Proven experience in a DevOps SME or lead role
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with Azure CLI, Python, Linux system administration
• Knowledge of certificates, firewalls, credentials, and permissions management
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, or internal systems like CRASH
• Active NVVP3
