The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Platform) to join the Workflow Engine Team within the platform group. This team is responsible for designing and maintaining a platform that executes heavy workloads asynchronously in an orchestrated, concurrent, and scalable manner. The platform supports tasks such as drawing conversion, attribute extraction, and machine learning-based drawing feature analysis, all of which are critical to the company's mission of transforming the manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Design and Development: Build and maintain a robust platform to handle complex workflows efficiently.
- Middleware and Framework Evaluation: Assess and select appropriate tools and frameworks to enhance platform functionality.
- System Architecture Design: Design scalable and efficient system architectures to support the platform's needs.
- Cost and Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the platform's cost-effectiveness and performance.
The team utilizes Kubernetes to run the workflow engine and employs Rust and TypeScript to define domain logic executed as workflow steps. This role requires close collaboration with other teams to ensure the platform meets cross-functional requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience developing backend systems for web applications.
- Proven ability to make decisions regarding technology selection, architecture design, and service construction.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in statically typed programming languages such as Rust, Java, Go, or C++.
- Experience with public cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or similar.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and platform design.
- Communication:
- Business-level English proficiency, as team communication is primarily conducted in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Rust, as it is the primary language used for the workflow engine.
- Experience operating services using Kubernetes and container technologies like Docker.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and security considerations in web development.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog and experience designing and developing large-scale services.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including frontend languages, even for personal projects.
