As part of this strategy, Commerzbank continues the expansion of its Digital Technology Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. We need motivated people who will join us on this journey and we are looking for a (Senior) Data Scientist in our flexhub team.

We are Commerzbank's internal delivery capability – a team of engineers, architects, analysts and experts working directly with business units. Unlike external consultancies, we are colleagues who stay. Based in Frankfurt, Sofia, and Łódź, we drive high-priority initiatives while building internal expertise that lasts.

Your responsibilities would consist of:

• Developing, training, and tuning machine learning models using prompt engineering, including reasoning tasks and configuring MCP setups for database and API access; creating and managing RAG databases; registering and orchestrating AI agents;
• Working with data engineers to build robust data pipelines;
• Deploying models into production environments or prototypes;
• Ensuring models are reproducible and well-documented;
• Selecting appropriate algorithms for specific business challenges;
• Performing cross-validation and back-testing of models;
• Adhering to ethical AI guidelines and data governance policies;
• Explaining model results to business users;
• Mentoring junior scientists on advanced techniques;
• Supporting the team in achieving its goals.

The skills and experience we would like you to have:

• High knowledge of Python;
• Knowledge of various machine learning methods (e.g. trees, ensembles, neural networks, clustering, Splunk);
• Previous experience in collecting, analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data;
• Good understanding of MS SQL for data analysis and database optimalization;
• Experience with Big Data platforms (Hadoop, Spark) is a plus;
• Fluency in English;
• University degree in IT or relevant.
