Job Description:
Colleague is looking for a Senior Remote Truss Designer to join our growing team. This senior-level role is designed for a professional with deep expertise in truss engineering, exceptional command of Alpine software, and the ability to lead complex projects from design through delivery. We are seeking someone who can work independently while also mentoring junior staff and ensuring the highest standards of quality across all truss designs
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of complex truss systems, ensuring compliance with codes, project requirements, and safety standards.
- Oversee the review of structural and architectural drawings, developing efficient and cost-effective layouts.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less-experienced designers, promoting best practices and design accuracy.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to validate design feasibility.
- Evaluate and approve project estimates, material lists, and labor projections.
- Recommend innovative design approaches to improve workflow and reduce project costs.
- Contribute to bid preparation and client-facing technical presentations.
Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in truss design, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Advanced skills in Alpine software (required); additional CAD/drafting programs beneficial.
- Strong leadership abilities with proven mentoring or supervisory experience.
- Expertise in wood framing, truss engineering, and construction practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, especially in a remote work environment.
- Degree or certification in construction, engineering, or drafting preferred.
- Field or on-site framing experience is advantageous.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
