​Developer Experience (DevX) is responsible for making sure all engineers at Coinbase build high-quality products while being productive and engaged. We do this by providing infrastructure, libraries, frameworks, and tooling to make it easier and faster to build high quality applications. Within DevX, our Onchain Pod is focused on defining the future of developer experience for onchain developers, both within Coinbase and in the broader crypto ecosystem. We believe that the onchain platform is the most important builder platform since the internet (“online”). As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you’ll be instrumental in designing, building, and executing core solutions that drive our systems.

W

hat you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): 

L* ead the new Onchain Pod and help define its charter, vision, mission, and roadmap.
W* ork with stakeholders in Engineering and Security to identify pain points and insecure processes in the onchain development lifecycle.
A* rchitect and build new tooling to improve onchain development for Coinbase and the broader ecosystem. Augment and maintain existing tooling.
D* rive the evolution of Web3 development toward Web2-level tooling, reliability, and ergonomics - reducing friction and making onchain development more accessible.
T* ake ownership of the team's processes and services, ensuring SLA adherence.
B* e a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes.
M* entor and collaborate with other members of the team to deliver high quality solutions.
C* hampion a “don’t DIY unless necessary” philosophy by leveraging proven industry standards and modern frameworks wherever possible.
S* tay current with emerging trends in the Web3 tooling ecosystem, and integrate best-in-class solutions to accelerate internal development without reinventing the wheel.

W

hat we look for in you (ie. job requirements): 

Y* ou have 8+ years of software engineering experience.
Y* ou are passionate about enabling onchain development.
Y* ou have extensive experience with smart contract deployments, execution, and management (EVM in particular).
Y* ou have a deep understanding of how popular L1s and L2s work.
Y* ou have an energy and self-drive for continuous learning as crypto is a constantly and rapidly changing space.
Y* ou excel in clear, direct, and kind communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Y* ou have experience building relationships with security, product, and engineering teams.
Y* ou balance long term strategic thinking with short term tactical planning.
Y* ou are familiar with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), containerization (e.g., Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
Y* ou have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

N

ice to haves:

P* rior experience working in a Developer Experience/Productivity, Platform, or similar domain team.
H* ave previous experience at a fast paced, high growth stage internet/software company.
C* ontributions to open-source crypto projects, such as OP Stack.
E* xperience with Golang, Geth, Rust, Reth, Foundry, Solidity, or other crypto tools.
A* n interest in blockchain security, red-teaming, and exploit prevention.

ay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).P

ay Range: : $218,025 USD - $256,500 USD
