Software Engineer

About the Role

Are you ready to lead the evolution of a high-impact e-commerce platform? We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive the transformation of a legacy ordering system into a modern, scalable microservices and event-driven architecture for a U.S.-based e-commerce company.

In this role, you will take ownership of critical components such as cart, checkout, payments, shipping, and order lifecycle management. You will design resilient systems, modernize infrastructure, and deliver scalable solutions that directly impact customer experience and business growth.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the design and development of microservices for cart, checkout, payments, shipping, and order management.

• Drive the migration from a monolithic architecture to modern microservices using decomposition patterns.

• Design and implement RESTful APIs with a focus on scalability, extensibility, and distributed data consistency.

• Integrate third-party payment gateways and shipping carrier APIs while ensuring security and compliance standards.

• Implement caching strategies and optimize database performance to improve system reliability.

• Enhance observability by building dashboards, monitoring systems, and proactive alerting mechanisms.

• Improve CI/CD pipelines and manage infrastructure using containerization and orchestration tools.

• Investigate and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive solutions.

• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical design documentation and architectural decisions.

Technical Requirements

Must-Haves

• 8+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering.

• Strong programming experience in Python.

• Experience building and maintaining microservices and event-driven systems (Kafka or message queues).

• Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.

• Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, CloudWatch, ElastiCache/Redis, SNS).

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong knowledge of MySQL, database optimization, caching strategies (Redis/Memcached), and data consistency patterns.

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Sentry.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with React and TypeScript.

• Experience modernizing frontend tooling (e.g., Vite).

• Experience integrating payment gateways (e.g., CyberSource, PayPal, Apple Pay).

• Familiarity with shipping carrier APIs (FedEx, UPS, USPS).

• Experience improving CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred).
