Role: Robotics Software / Perception Engineer - Path & Motion Planning
Location: Remote - US Based
Salary: $250,000 + Equity
The company
We are working with a venture-backed, fast-growing robotics company building the future of physical AI and intelligent automation. Positioned at the intersection of rugged, autonomous systems and highly precise industrial manufacturing technology, we develop software and hardware stacks that allow intelligent systems to perceive, adapt, and execute complex tasks in real time.
Whether deploying autonomous kinetic platforms in challenging, dynamic environments or scaling flexible AI-driven automation for critical applications, we are rewriting the rules of how robots interact with the physical world. If you want to ship production-grade code directly onto heavy hardware that solves high-stakes, real-world problems, this is where you belong.
The role
We are looking for an engineer who sits at the intersection of perception and autonomy. You will build the visual intelligence systems and the decision-making logic that allows our robots to perceive complex environments, calculate optimal trajectories, and safely navigate dynamic, real-world spaces in real time.
What You'll do
- Perception: Design and deploy robust computer vision, deep learning, and sensor fusion pipelines (Camera, LiDAR, Radar) for real-time object detection and tracking
- Path & Motion Planning: Develop, simulate, and implement deterministic and probabilistic planning algorithms (e.g., A*, Dijkstra, RRT/RRT*, MPC, trajectory optimization) for complex multi-degree-of-freedom systems.
- Collision Avoidance: Build predictive models and real-time obstacle avoidance behavior for dynamic, unpredictable environment.
- Integration: Optimize the entire perception-to-actuation pipeline for low-latency, deterministic execution on edge compute devices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Controls and Hardware teams to validate algorithms in simulation and deploy them directly onto physical platform.
What You Bring
- Education: MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Languages: Production-grade C++ and Python
- Planning Expertise: Strong background in kinematic/dynamic constraints, non-holonomic motion planning, and optimization techniques.
- Perception Expertise: Experience with OpenCV, PCL, PyTorch, and handling raw 3D point cloud data
- Tools: Deep familiarity with ROS/ROS2, Gazebo/MoveIt, or equivalent simulation and middleware environment
Bonus
- PointsExperience with multi-agent coordination or swarm algorithms.
- Knowledge of CUDA, TensorRT, or hardware-accelerated compute
- Background in defense tech, autonomous UAS, or heavy industrial automation
