We are seeking a highly skilled Social Media Community Manager with a proven track record in managing social media pages for news agencies (journalism).
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be fluent in Arabic and possess a proven record of at least 5 years in managing social media accounts for news agencies or within the journalism field. They must have a deep understanding of Egyptian socio-dynamics, politics, and cultural nuances, as well as a strong belief in the value and importance of independent journalism. This role involves managing the social media accounts of our news agency, which focuses on covering Egyptian affairs.
They should have a portfolio demonstrating understanding of social media dynamics and audience engagement strategies, content creation, graphic design, community management, collaboration with news teams and ability to analyze social media performance. Additionally, they should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of handling the dynamic nature of news media.
Familiarity and experience with creating and managing social media ad campaigns is a welcome plus.
Role Overview:
In this role, you'll be the point person for overseeing our Egypt team's social media accounts.
Your responsibilities include developing a marketing communications strategy and plan, posting content, increasing reach and engagement of contact , and monitoring the performance of our digital assets. You'll also play a key role in collecting and analyzing data and creating reports. You will be expected to collaborate closely with the editorial team.
Your key responsibilities include:
Content management
- Creating daily posts for the content provided by the editorial team, in line with the project’s brand identity.
- Aligning and coordinating the collaborative efforts of internal teams, such as editorial, production, and management, to guarantee timely content posting.
- Acting as the final stage of quality control, to ensure the content published is presented within brand strategy, guidelines, values and tone of voice.
- Archive all content on shared drives and our website.
Social media management
- Managing and updating digital platforms on a daily basis.
- Developing and implementing a social media strategy in line with overall marketing objectives and the project’s strategic priorities
- Contributing to audience behavior monitoring, analysis and segmentation
- Conducting periodical competitive reviews
- Developing and running campaigns in line with marketing objectives.
Community support and development
- Creating and building communities of loyal followers and managing them on different social media platforms
- Responding to messages and enquiries by audience members in a timely manner.
- Engaging with the project’s audience, incentivizing increased engagement and interaction
- Monitoring competitors’ engagement with the community
Tracking, Documentation and reporting
- Indexing all content produced and documenting it on the content sheet
- Tracking and documenting all key performance indicators based on the project’s
- monitoring and evaluation framework
- Preparing and presenting analytics reports tracking general growth, reach and
- engagement, as well as those specific to activities/tactics implemented in the social media plan.
- Preparing and presenting reports on social media trends
- Preparing periodic progress reports on the project
Skills:
Social Media skills:
- Platform Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) and understanding of their algorithms, trends, and best practices -for news agencies.
- Content Scheduling Tools: Familiarity with tools for scheduling posts and managing multiple accounts.
- Experience in community management and engagement.
Content Creation
- Writing Skills: Strong writing and editing skills tailored for different social media platforms, maintaining the news agency’s tone and style.
- Graphic Design: Ability to create visually appealing images and infographics using tools.
- Video Editing: Basic video editing skills.
- Storytelling: Skill in crafting compelling narratives that engage the audience while delivering accurate and timely news.
Analytics and Reporting
- Performance Tracking: Experience with social media analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics) to track performance and measure engagement.
- Data Interpretation: Ability to analyze metrics, derive insights, and report on the effectiveness of social media strategies, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to changing trends, news cycles, and platform updates.
Advertising Management (Desired plus)
- Ad Campaigns: Experience with creating and managing social media ad campaigns, including targeting, budgeting, and analyzing ad performance.
- Tools Proficiency: Familiarity with advertising tools and platforms such as Facebook Ads Manager, Google Ads, and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
