Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Lead Designer. The Lead Designer will be responsible for overseeing the design and visual identity of Cobalt Finance's products and services. Day-to-day tasks include creating and optimizing user interfaces, developing design strategies, conducting user research, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The Lead Designer will also lead the design team, and ensure all design outputs are of the highest quality.

What you'll do

Design Leadership

• Own the end-to-end design process for our institutional intelligence platform, from concept to implementation
• Establish and evolve Cobalt's design system, ensuring consistency across all products and touchpoints
• Lead and mentor a design team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Partner with product, engineering, and leadership to define product vision and strategy

Product Design

• Design sophisticated, data-rich interfaces that serve institutional investors and blockchain professionals
• Conduct user research with our institutional clients to understand workflows, pain points, and opportunities
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that balance aesthetics with functionality
• Optimize information architecture for complex financial and blockchain data visualization

Brand & Visual Identity

• Develop and maintain Cobalt's visual identity across products, marketing materials, and communications
• Ensure design outputs communicate trust, sophistication, and innovation—essential for institutional clients
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain brand consistency across all customer touchpoints

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of product design experience, with 2+ years in a senior or lead role
• Exceptional portfolio demonstrating expertise in UI/UX design for complex, data-intensive applications
• Deep proficiency in modern design tools (Figma required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or Framer a plus)
• Proven ability to lead design teams and mentor designers at various career stages
• Strong understanding of user research methodologies and data-driven design decisions
• Excellence in creating design systems and maintaining design consistency at scale
• Outstanding communication skills with ability to articulate design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience designing for B2B, SaaS, or financial services products
