CoAd helps businesses navigate the complexities of workforce management through a combination of technology, expertise, and human support. Serving more than 17,000 clients nationwide, CoAd delivers payroll, HR, benefits administration, compliance support, workforce technology, and PEO services that help organizations simplify operations, support their employees, and drive growth.

Built on the belief that workforce solutions should be integrated, intuitive, and people-centered, CoAd empowers employers to manage their workforce with greater confidence while adapting to the evolving needs of today’s workplace.

CoAd, an Aquiline Capital Partners portfolio company, is seeking a Senior UX Designer to join our growing team. We’re building a UX organization with strong leadership support and a clear role in shaping product direction - not just executing within it. Our platform is evolving, our design system is growing, and our approach to AI is still being shaped. Your work will directly influence how all of it develops. The experiences you design will be used every day by people doing essential work - and your contribution will make those experiences clearer, simpler, and more human.

At CoAd, your work touches experiences every employee understands - getting paid accurately and on time, enrolling in benefits, navigating life changes, and feeling confident that the details are handled correctly.

Every design decision you make helps someone feel informed, supported, and confident in moments that matter. That responsibility shapes how we approach our work. From payroll and benefits to compliance and risk management, CoAd supports the full employee lifecycle with solutions designed to scale alongside our clients. Behind every screen is an employee verifying a paycheck, a new hire navigating benefits, or an admin managing critical deadlines. The work we do has immediate, real-world consequences - and we take that seriously.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of complex, high-impact experiences.

This is a hands-on senior role for designers who think in systems, execute with craft, and thrive in complex, high-stakes environments. You’ll shape workflows that must be clear, resilient, and dependable under real-world conditions.

Lead through doing.

You’ll work closely with UX leadership, product, and engineering, contributing directly to design work while helping define how our team evolves - including how we use AI in practice.

  • Design experiences where clarity, accuracy, and trust are essential
  • Shape scalable patterns and systems across the platform
  • Leverage AI as a daily, practical design capability
  • Present and defend work with clarity and thoughtful rationale
  • Influence both product direction and team practices

Design Experiences That Guide Users With Clarity And Confidence.

  • Design complex workflows: payroll processing, HR administration, and multi-step self-service experiences
  • Create clarity in critical moments: surface the right information at the right time; support decision-making and error recovery
  • Prototype to think and communicate: from quick explorations to high-fidelity interaction demos for testing and alignment
  • Deliver production-ready design: complete Figma files with states, edge cases, and implementation-ready specifications
  • Contribute to design systems: build components, define patterns, and improve documentation
  • Use AI as part of your craft: accelerate research, synthesis, prototyping, and iteration
  • Collaborate and refine: lead critiques, present work, and incorporate feedback to strengthen outcomes
  • Improve how we work: recommend UX processes and best practices that raise team effectiveness

Role-specific emphasis

  • Define scalable UX models, evolve the design system, and mentor other designers
  • Deliver within sprint cycles, focus on core workflows, and contribute to mobile experiences

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5–7+ years of UX design experience in B2B or enterprise software
  • Experience in payroll, HCM, PEO, or similarly complex/regulated domains
  • Advanced Figma skills (component systems, variables, prototyping, developer handoff)
  • Proven use of AI tools as part of your design workflow (research synthesis, prototyping, iteration, content drafting)
  • Demonstrated ability to design and present end-to-end workflows
  • Comfort leading critiques and communicating decisions with stakeholders
  • Track record of delivering production-ready, high-quality work

Preferred Experience

  • Experience contributing to or governing design systems
  • Accessibility expertise (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Mobile and responsive enterprise product design
  • Experience designing for multiple user roles or permission levels
  • Experience integrating AI/LLMs into product or design workflows
