Cloudera is looking for a software developer to own and deliver Cloudera Distribution of Apache Iceberg through various platforms of Cloudera. This is an exciting opportunity to gather experience with Apache Iceberg on multiple cloud platforms.

You will gain understanding in big data use cases and participate in the vibrant Apache Software Foundation community and also, you will build features that power schema evolution, time-travel queries, and multi-engine interoperability across Spark, Hive, Impala, and Trino.

As an Iceberg Core Engineer you will:

• Design and implement enhancements in Iceberg’s table format and APIs.
• Strengthen integrations with Spark, Hive, Impala, and Trino.
• Improve metadata management, schema evolution, and partition handling.
• Optimize Iceberg for cloud object stores (S3, ADLS, GCS).
• Collaborate with the Apache Iceberg community.

We are excited if you have:

• Strong Java/Scala development skills.
• Deep understanding of table formats and metadata catalogs.
• Hands-on experience with Hive Metastore and Spark SQL.
• Knowledge of ACID transactions and concurrency.

You might also have:

• Contributions to Iceberg or related OSS projects (Delta Lake, Hudi).
• Cloud-native data lake experience.
