We are currently seeking a Brand Marketing Director to join our Communications team. This
role is a management position accountable for brand marketing and content creation, various
aspects of marketing communications and strategy, digital media, association meetings,
training/education, and other CLSI publications and presentations. The role leads the execution
of marketing strategies across all forms of media and is responsible for the effective use of
reporting and analytics to support growth, optimize marketing effectiveness, and expand the
brand reach of CLSI. Close coordination with all cross-functional staff teams and our volunteer
subject matter experts is essential in this role.
The position manages a small team and is responsible for promoting a professional,

The Marketing Director is a critical management role responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns, leading a small marketing team, and managing budget and priorities to meet business expansion goals and deliver positive ROI. This role is accountable for brand marketing, communicatios, and content creation, and is responsible for various aspects of marketing communications, digital media, meetings and events management, and other internal and external communications initiatives for CLSI. The Marketing Director leads the execution and coordination of marketing strategies across all forms of media and channels and is responsible for the effective use of reporting and analytics to generate new insights, increase revenue, optimize marketing spend, and expand the brand reach of CLSI. Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and plans to achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments (eg, standards, membership) to align marketing efforts with overall business goals.
- Collect customer feedback, assess competitive and market trends and conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities and trends.
Campaign Execution
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of marketing campaigns across various channels and make adjustments as needed to optimize results.
- Develop promotions designed to drive sales of standards, guidelines, companion products, membership, and training.
- Define and develop marketing strategies that drive brand awareness and engagement across targeted audiences including current customers, members, and prospects.
Brand Management
- Ensure that marketing materials and activities promote a consistent brand image.
- Facilitate the development of brand guidelines and work processes to ensure consistency in brand presentation.
- Support leadership, staff, and volunteers developing and editing presentations as requested and ensures content is compliant with brand guidelines.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, motivate, and manage marketing team, providing clear guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Assign tasks, define priorities and outcomes, set goals, and track progress.
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to build a strong culture of collaboration, trust, and growth
- Represent the marketing function both within the organization and with external stakeholders and responsibly manage any external vendors.
- Manage and attend trade shows and meetings as required.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage the marketing budget.
- Approve, track, and report on marketing expenses.
- Measure and the return on investment (ROI) of marketing campaigns.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze marketing data and metrics to identify trends, assess performance, and make data-driven decisions.
Other Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new marketing opportunities and initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices to proactively introduce new ideas and opportunities
- Performs other duties and responsibilities to support effective organizational communications and content delivery.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Skills And Abilities
- Extensive skill and proficiency in marketing communications and content creation for business and/or technical audiences and across channels.
- Creative leadership and initiative. Ability to ideate and develop multi-channel campaigns and to manage a dynamic marketing calendar.
- Facility with professional and marketing software including MS Office and Google products, email marketing and CMS platforms (esp Umbraco or WordPress), and Adobe Creative Cloud. Familiarity with Hubspot, Smartsheet, and AMS systems (eg, NetSuite, NetForum) experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and problem solving in a changing and dynamic environment. Ability to quickly build confident knowledge and understanding to provide creative direction and support content development.
- Skill in communicating and building relationships across and outside the organization.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and process information in support of changing program activities as necessary.
- Proven ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and be accountable for results.
- Proven success planning, organizing, and participating in global tradeshows and in planning, organizing, and managing direct mail campaigns and print advertisements.
Knowledge
- Experience with social media, especially LinkedIn and Instagram
- Familiarity with a wide range of communication vehicles and platforms
- Working knowledge of SEO, paid search, display ads, and other digital advertising best practices.
- General understanding of non-profit and/or association management.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of professional level marketing experience, preferably in nonprofit/association environments.
- At least two years is in a supervisory capacity managing others.
