About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level, senior, or expert engineer who is enthusiastic about taking on significant ownership and making a major impact. Whether your expertise lies in backend development or you're a versatile full-stack engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting, building, and scaling our platform. You'll be working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment where your contributions will be visible and vital to our success.

What You'll Do

• Build Our Foundation: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend systems and APIs using Python and AWS.
• Full-Stack Contribution (if applicable): If you have full-stack capabilities, you'll also have the opportunity to work with JavaScript/TypeScript and React to create a seamless user experience.
• Drive Technical Excellence: Champion best practices in software development, including comprehensive testing, CI/CD, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with the Head of Engineering and the wider team in a Kanban-style workflow to translate ideas into high-quality technical solutions.
• Own Your Work: Take end-to-end ownership of features, from conception and design to deployment and maintenance. Testing is a shared responsibility, and you'll be integral to our quality-first mindset.
• Shape Our Culture: As a core team member, you will have a unique and influential voice in defining our engineering practices, our collaborative environment, and the kind of company we become.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong background in backend or full-stack development. Probably in the range of 5-7 years of professional full-time experience.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with web frameworks (we use Django, but it is not a requirement).
• Solid experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-native application development.
• For full-stack candidates, proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks, preferably React.
• A strong understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• A collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills. You thrive in a small team environment and are eager to both learn from and mentor your colleagues.
• A proactive and resourceful problem-solver who is excited by the challenges of a startup environment.
