Why You’ll Enjoy This Role – Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Civica, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping one of our core products — designing, building, and maintaining solutions that improve the delivery of public services. You’ll work collaboratively with talented engineers across Civica, follow modern development practices, and bring innovative, cloud-ready technology to life. Your work will directly impact millions of people who rely on the services our software supports.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software using Node.js, GoLang, and React frameworks
- Build and support microservices and event-driven systems in a cloud-first environment
- Design and optimise PostgreSQL data schemas for performance and scalability
- Provide technical mentorship, guiding and supporting engineers in their professional growth
- Take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive architectural decisions
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
- Develop API-based integrations that adhere to security and regulatory standards
- Conduct code reviews and promote best practices for quality and maintainability
- Troubleshoot complex issues using logging, profiling, and collaborative debugging tools
- Apply strong system architecture principles to ensure scalability and efficiency
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for testing, builds, and deployments
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and bring innovative ideas into our engineering culture
- Contribute actively to our Agile development process, supporting continuous delivery and improvement
What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills
- Proven experience with Node.js, GoLang, and React.js in production systems
- Strong understanding of microservice and event-driven architecture
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design
- Proficiency in RESTful API development and third-party integrations
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP beneficial)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools
- Excellent debugging and analytical skills
- Strong communicator with a collaborative and mentoring mindset
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Experience using Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring
- Understanding of cloud security principles, IAM, and secret management
- Exposure to Agile delivery and cross-functional collaboration
- Enthusiasm for continuous learning and driving technical innovation
