Role Description

We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing remote-first team.

You’ll play a hands-on technical and leadership role — guiding the development of backend systems that power CitySage’s Urban Intelligence platform.

This role is approximately 70% engineering / 30% delivery, involving both hands-on coding and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using TypeScript and Node.js
• Build scalable, cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Lead and mentor a small development team
• Collaborate with product, AI, and data teams to define architecture and deliverables
• Ensure high-quality code through testing, reviews, and CI/CD pipelines
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of systems
• Contribute to product strategy and technical roadmap

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 3–7 years of experience in software engineering, with some leadership exposure
• Strong background in backend development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and GCP (or similar cloud platforms)
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Bonus: Experience with AI technologies, geospatial systems, or urban planning data
