Position Specifics the Project Manager provides leadership of the project team covering the planning and coordination, scheduling, financial and cost management, contract administration and customer communications, deliverables and relationships on all assigned projects. The Senior Project Manager also ensures that the project is completed on time, on budget (at margin), with complete customer satisfaction. This person will also be responsible for training and mentoring less experienced Project Managers and/or Coordinators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies project planning documents: schedule, PSR, master budget, forecast, and invoice schedule
- Assists with managing the creation and execution of commissioning plans, acceptance testing and customer signoffs
- Assists with project close-out which include turnover to Customer Service and final payments
- Attends the following meetings: turnover, kick-off, project planning, installation kick-off, and department
- Lead a matrix project team providing project guidance and direction to achieve project goals
- Implement change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders.
- Attends or conducts weekly project status meetings
- Attends design reviews, customer design reviews and approvals
- Assesses contract documents and PRD
- Updates schedules/forecasts; manages costs
- Creates notes for and attends Operations Planning Meetings
- Makes occasional site visits and attends site coordination meetings
- Participates in proposal efforts/sales support
- Creates project planning documents: schedule, PSR, master budget, forecast, and invoice schedules
- Conducts project planning and weekly status meetings; Monitors and manages project process
- Administers subcontracts and approves vendor invoices; reviews subcontracts; Manages change orders
- Creates and administers commissioning plan, acceptance testing and customer signoffs
- Coordinates site/go-live support, spare parts, training, and project documentation
- Manages project close-out which include turnover to Customer Service and final payments
- Interface with management & clients directly, providing regular updates of project information per project
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
- 5 - 10 years of technical experience in conveyor systems, construction, or similar environment preferred
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to the concept and design of conveyor systems and material handling
- Knowledge of managerial accounting principles and practices, contract language, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in project management, strategic project planning, resource allocation, project leadership technique, and overall coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing solid customer service; this includes meeting quality standards for installation, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Initiative to take on responsibilities and challenges without hesitation, self-starter
- Ability to think analytically; use judgement and decision-making skills
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related problems; consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to make the most appropriate choice
- Ability to understand lean methodology and initiatives; consistently looking for ways to improve
- Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
- Ability to anticipate, size, and mitigate risk
- MS Office (Visio, Project, Excel and Word); AutoCAD (basic); Oracle
- Travel required up to 30% of the job
