  • Design and develop study-specific training materials, including protocol overviews, procedural guides, and compliance-related modules, to support clinical research site staff in the execution of individual trials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect content, define learning objectives, and transform technical or clinical information into clear, learner-friendly educational materials.
  • Create detailed storyboards and instructional plans that outline the flow, pacing, and structure of learning modules, ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and clinical education goals.
  • Utilize multimedia tools and technologies to enhance learning experiences by incorporating graphics, animations, audio, and interactive elements that support engagement and retention.
  • Develop e-learning content using authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), ensuring materials meet accessibility, branding, and instructional design standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews on instructional content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to design standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality benchmarks.
  • Support learning evaluation and feedback processes, making data-informed updates to content based on learner input, performance metrics, and stakeholder recommendations.
  • Collaborate on Learning Management System (LMS) integration, including formatting, testing, uploading, and maintaining learning content within the LMS to ensure accurate deployment and user access.
  • Assist in triaging and debugging issues or reported errors in legacy courseware.
  • Assist in maintaining course catalogues, including properly documenting new releases, sunsets, and edits.

The Expertise Required

  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories, with the ability to apply models such as ADDIE, SAM, or Agile Learning to real-world learning scenarios.
  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), Adobe Captivate, and other content creation platforms.
  • Skilled in multimedia integration, including graphics, video, voiceover scripting, and interactivity to enhance learner engagement.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and experience formatting, uploading, and testing content for deployment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex clinical or technical concepts into clear, accessible training materials.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with experience working cross-functionally with subject matter experts (SMEs), clinical staff, and education teams.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to content accuracy, compliance, and instructional integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, in both remote and hybrid settings.
  • A growth mindset, with a willingness to receive feedback, stay current on learning technology trends, and continuously improve design practices.

Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and e-learning content creation, preferably in healthcare, clinical research, or another regulated environment.
