Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Japan’s pharmaceutical and healthcare data landscape, supporting clients in navigating complex data ecosystems for commercial and sales reporting.
- Engage directly with life sciences clients, both domestic and multinational, to understand business needs and translate them into actionable data science solutions.
- Analyze and interpret data from sources such as IQVIA, Veeva, and local vendors (e.g., JMDC, Medical Data Vision, Nihon Ultmarc), ensuring insights are aligned with Japan’s unique hierarchical data models.
- Collaborate with offshore delivery teams to ensure seamless execution of analytics projects, acting as a bilingual bridge between client stakeholders and technical teams.
- Contribute to the development of analytics strategies, data pipelines, and machine learning models tailored to commercial effectiveness, patient journey analysis, and real-world evidence (RWE).
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal capability building within the Insights & Data team.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Technical Skills
- At least 5, preferrably 10+ years of experience in data science and analytics, with a strong focus on the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector in Japan. Consulting background preferred.
- Deep understanding of Japan-specific health data sources and vendors; familiarity with IQVIA, Veeva, and local data providers like JMDC and MDV is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, and experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
- Problem-solving skills with strong analytical ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to collective goals. Native-level fluency in Japanese (native or JLPT N1 or equivalent) and business-level proficiency in English.
- Ability to work flexibly across client environments—remote, hybrid, or on-site as required.
Educational Profile:
- bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications in data science, cloud platforms, or pharmaceutical analytics are a plus.
