Senior Data Scientist

About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our consulting firm in support of a key client—one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset platforms.
This role requires a strong analytical mindset, technical proficiency in data engineering and business intelligence tools, and preferably experience working within a banking or financial services environment.
Our consultant will collaborate with our client’s finance, product, and engineering teams to support cash flow processes, including payments, cash reconciliations against bank statements, and safeguarding of assets. Data is sourced from platform data, external financial institutions, market data, and internal financial systems. By transforming raw data, our consultant will work with our client to create meaningful insights and build advanced data models and pipelines that drive analytics for understanding cash flows.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with Product and Engineering to drive new initiatives, supporting new product launches fueling business growth.
- Help define data model, contract, scaling the build of data quality check and contract enforcement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Accounting, Treasury, and other Finance functions, to extract financial data and insights, and provide data driven recommendations to enhance efficiencies for financial processes.
- Function as a strategic partner to functional teams; design and scope project plans; execute, test and implement data and reporting solutions.
- Initiate, develop and maintain data pipelines and data models that power dashboards and data products with outstanding craftsmanship.
- Work with the broader Data and Engineering teams to find ways to scale our client’s platform through better systems and automation.
- Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations to present financial insights to stakeholders.
- Partner with peers and stakeholders to define and execute roadmaps that can help the function scale.
Requirements
- Five-plus years of relevant experience.
- Five years of experience with data processing (ETL), fluency in complex SQL and basic programming language high proficiency with scripting language (preferably Python).
- Five years of experience building data pipelines.
- Self-starter, ability to multitask, and highly collaborative with cross functional teams.
- Knowledge of data modeling, architecture, and best practices.
- Experience using Apache Airflow or similar orchestration systems.
- Strong understanding of key finance principles, products within accounting and treasury domains.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to haves
- Previous experience working with financial services data is a plus.
- Previous working experience or knowledge of crypto is a plus.
- Domain experience in payments, accounting, and finance areas.
- Experience with Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or other business intelligence platforms.
- Be able to proactively manage prioritization of work.
- Experience manipulating large datasets including structured and unstructured data.
Work Schedule
Fully remote but must be available to work US East and West Coast hours. A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected, with the potential for additional hours.
