About California Design Den
California Design Den (CDD) is a US-based premium home & lifestyle brand selling across Amazon , Walmart, Macy's, Target, and our DTC site. Growth is driven by high-velocity creative, sharp merchandising, and data-led decisioning. We move fast, we ship weekly, and we care about craft.
The Role
We're hiring a Senior Visual Designer to own how CDD looks and converts across Amazon, Walmart, Macy's, Target, and DTC. This is a hands-on senior role — you'll set the visual bar, ship the highest-priority assets yourself, and raise the ceiling for the rest of the creative team.
You'll partner closely with performance marketing, brand, merchandising, and the video/content team to translate insights (CTR, CVR, keyword and category data) into image stacks, A+ modules, Brand Store pages, and lifestyle scenes that measurably move the needle.
What You'll Own
Marketplace Creative Leadership
- Own Amazon image stacks end-to-end: main image, infographics, comparison charts, size guides, feature callouts — with a bias for clarity and conversion
- Build and maintain Amazon A+ Content and Brand Store pages across CDD's category lines
- Extend the same visual system to Walmart, Macy's, Target, and DTC — one brand, adapted per surface
Lifestyle & Retouching
- Direct and produce AI-assisted lifestyle scenes with professional retouching — realistic, on-brand, and category-accurate
- Own compositing, masking, colour, and fabric texture work at a level that reads premium on mobile
- Set the QA bar — no unrealistic AI artefacts, no off-brand palettes, no lazy retouching goes live
Brand System & Templates
- Codify a scalable design system — templates, colour, type, iconography, badges, disclaimers — so the team can move fast without drifting
- Own file hygiene, version control, and handoffs across Figma / Adobe / Drive
- Mentor and review work from junior designers and external contractors; unblock them fast
Data-Informed Iteration
- Use CTR, CVR, keyword rank, and category benchmarks to decide what to test next — not gut feel
- Partner with the ads and SEO teams on hero image and A+ variants for high-priority ASINs and launches
- Document what worked, what didn't, and why — build institutional memory for the next launch
Must Have
- 4–8 years of visual/graphic design experience, majority in e-commerce or D2C brands
- Hands-on Amazon creative expertise: main images, infographics, A+ Content, Brand Stores
- Advanced Photoshop skills — masking, compositing, retouching, colour correction, batching
- Strong AI tool judgment — you know when to use Midjourney / Firefly / Stable Diffusion and when not to
- Fundamentals: typography, layout, hierarchy, colour, and mobile-first thinking
- Working knowledge of Figma for design systems and cross-team handoffs
- A portfolio showing measurable impact on marketplace CTR/CVR or DTC conversion
Good to Have
- Adobe Illustrator, Lightroom, and light motion (After Effects / Premiere basics)
- Prior work on home, textile, apparel, or lifestyle categories
- Experience mentoring junior designers or leading a small creative pod
- Familiarity with Amazon COSMOS / listing guidelines and mobile-first main image rules
- Comfort with fast A/B or PickFu-style creative testing
Who You Are
- You obsess over craft but ship on deadline — polish never blocks progress
- You think in systems, not one-off assets — you leave templates behind you
- You use AI as a tool, not a crutch — realism and brand fit are non-negotiable
- You take feedback well and give it directly — you can mentor without being precious
- You care about the business result, not just the aesthetic
What We Offer
- Ownership of the visual system of a fast-growing US premium home brand
- Direct line to marketing, brand, and category leadership — your work shapes P&L outcomes
- Modern stack: Adobe CC, Figma, Midjourney/Firefly, lots of real product access
- A senior, quality-first team — no design-by-committee
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
How to Apply
Send your resume and a portfolio link (Behance / Dribbble / personal site / PDF). Include 2–3 Amazon or DTC image stacks you personally led, with a 2–3 line note on the business result (CTR / CVR / rank lift). Applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
We review applications on a rolling basis. Early applicants are prioritised.
