Our respected client is seeking a highly skilled Automation/Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python and Ansible. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing automation modules that integrate seamlessly into existing base code and for evaluating and recommending improvements to CI/CD pipelines. A background in networking, experience with GitLab, and web-based development knowledge are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and integrate automation modules using Python and Ansible to fit into existing codebases, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements and create efficient automation workflows that optimize processes.
Evaluate current CI/CD pipelines and make strategic recommendations for improvements to increase deployment efficiency, reliability, and security.
Build and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules for automation of various infrastructure and application deployments.
Ensure automation solutions follow best practices for networking, security, and system administration, leveraging your networking background.
Integrate automation scripts and modules with GitLab for version control and CI/CD workflows.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to support continuous integration, delivery, and deployment processes using GitLab and other CI/CD tools.
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize automation processes to ensure smooth deployments.
Contribute to web-based development initiatives (where applicable), working on web technologies that integrate with automation pipelines.
Write and maintain clear, concise technical documentation for automated processes, modules, and CI/CD improvements.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in software development and network automation using Python and Ansible.
Proven ability to develop and integrate automation modules into existing codebases, enhancing operational efficiency.
Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, with experience evaluating and optimizing workflows for scalability and performance.
Hands-on experience using GitLab for version control, pipeline automation, and team collaboration.
Strong network engineering background, with expertise in network configurations, common protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
Skilled in network device automation using NETCONF/YANG modeling and API-driven configurations.
Experience with pyATS or similar automated network testing frameworks for validation and verification.
Proficient in Python data validation tools such as Pydantic to ensure data integrity within automation workflows.
Experience in database design and administration, including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
Ability to build automation into core codebases and contribute to scalable, modular solutions.
Familiar with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their role in UI-based automation dashboards or platforms.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex automation issues in production environments.
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across DevOps, networking, and development teams to support seamless integration and delivery..

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for automation and infrastructure management.
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
Knowledge of security best practices in automation and deployment environments.
Certifications in Python, Ansible, networking, or cloud technologies.
