ByzFunder is at an inflection point. We're not upgrading legacy software — we're replacing it entirely with a purpose-built, AI-native lending platform designed to underwrite, fund, and service merchant cash advances faster and smarter than any system in the market today.
We're building a team of Senior Software Engineers to help us get there. You'll work alongside other engineers, product owners, and operations stakeholders to design, build, and ship the systems that power our lending lifecycle — from deal origination and underwriting through funding and portfolio management.
This is a collaborative, high-impact role on a greenfield platform. You'll contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions, own features end-to-end, and work in an environment that embraces AI-assisted development as a core part of how the team operates.
What You'll Build & Own
- Build and ship features across the MCA lending lifecycle — including application intake, document processing, underwriting, offer generation, funding workflows, and portfolio management.
- Contribute to the development of AI agent workflows that automate key business processes, working within an established team framework and collaborating on agent communication patterns, tool integrations, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
- Integrate LLM capabilities and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers into ByzFunder's platform, giving agents structured access to internal APIs, databases, and third-party data providers.
- Work within a Spec-Driven Development (SDD) approach — taking well-defined specifications and translating them into reliable, tested, production-ready code.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code) as a standard part of your daily workflow — generating, refining, and validating code with AI assistance to move faster without sacrificing quality.
- Collaborate with product owners, operations, risk, and compliance stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that reflect real business needs.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to team engineering standards, and support a culture of quality, learning, and continuous improvement.
Need To Have
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong full-stack capability.
- Production experience with React / Next.js and Node.js (Nest.js preferred).
- Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS RDS) and an ORM (Prisma preferred).
- Experience designing and building REST APIs.
- Experience working with asynchronous processing (queues, background jobs, or event-driven patterns).
- Experience deploying and operating applications in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
- Solid understanding of application security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, secrets management, audit logging).
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) in day-to-day coding, including generating, refining, and validating code.
- Ability to independently take features from requirements to production.
Bonus
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into applications.
- Familiarity with prompt design, structured outputs, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Experience with message queues (SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ) or workflow/orchestration systems.
- Experience in fintech, lending, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone).
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, etc.).
