About the role:

Our client is looking for a Staff Full-Staff Engineer to take a central role in shaping and delivering a growing healthcare technology platform.

This is a senior hands-on engineering position with broad responsibility across software development, system design, data, AI, cloud services, and platform reliability. You will be expected to make sound technical decisions, work closely with stakeholders, and help turn evolving business needs into dependable software.

The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working with a high level of autonomy, solving ambiguous problems, and contributing directly to the codebase while also guiding wider technical direction.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver full-stack software using TypeScript/Node.js with React.
• Build and maintain APIs, backend services, integrations, and data-driven application features.
• Create AI-supported functionality for document handling, information extraction, retrieval, and automated decision support.
• Introduce practical safeguards around AI outputs, including validation, review steps, and exception handling.
• Develop robust business workflows involving approvals, permissions, process status, and traceability.
• Contribute to cloud architecture, deployment pipelines, containerised environments, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Maintain strong controls around sensitive healthcare information and system access.
• Work with product, clinical, data, and commercial teams to turn requirements into workable technical solutions.
• Improve application quality through testing, documentation, performance tuning, and operational support.
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers and help improve development standards as the team grows.

Key Experience:

• 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience, including significant responsibility for technical delivery.
• Strong full-stack development skills across TypeScript/Node.js and React.
• Experience deploying AI or LLM-based capabilities within live software products.
• Practical experience with technologies such as OCR, document extraction, RAG, or AI workflow automation.
• Understanding of how to assess and control the quality of AI-generated results in production.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL experience, including relational schema design.
• Experience implementing complex business workflows, approval processes, and auditable application logic.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience working with sensitive or regulated information, ideally within healthcare or another controlled environment.
• Proven ability to make architectural decisions and take responsibility for production software.
• Comfortable combining hands-on development with senior technical leadership.

Desirable Experience

• Previous healthcare software experience, particularly clinical documentation, coding, revenue cycle, risk adjustment, or EHR-related systems.
• Experience with GCP services including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, or Vertex AI.
• AWS experience.
• Experience with dbt or modern analytics platforms.
• Background building document-processing solutions using PDF parsing, OCR, and structured extraction.
• Experience with Terraform, CDK, or comparable infrastructure tooling.
• Knowledge of IAM, secrets management, cloud monitoring, and cost optimisation.
• Experience acting as a senior technical lead within a small or growing engineering function.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering tools.
