We’re partnered with a leading FinTech scale-up who are transforming how small businesses access finance to grow and scale. The business is backed by a strong track record and with an ambitious mission, they’ve successfully provided billions in funding to companies across the UK and Europe.

As they continue to successfully grow, they are now looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the next phase of innovation across their most critical product and this is a strategic leadership role that is offering autonomy where you’ll be making a real impact.

You’ll be playing a key role in leading the design and development of systems and products that are critical to the business and are responsible for meeting customer requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll have autonomy, own the technical roadmap and be responsible for leading a team of engineers.

What will you be doing:

• You’ll be responsible for the re-architecture of the team’s code where you’ll be collaborating with principal engineers in other teams to design and deliver a coherent system
• Review projects for the team to continuously improves aspects of various systems and processes
• Be responsible for leading the evolution of their system architecture to improve customer journeys and enhance offer generation processes
• Build strong stakeholder relationships whilst mentoring junior engineers
• Set a clear technical vision that aligns with long-term goals whilst working closely with a cross-function team across product and analytics teams
• Contribute to a growing scale-up where decisions are made quickly, bring new opportunities and ideas into the team

What are they looking for:

• Strong experience in systems architecture, including designing and managing complex domain models
• Proficiency in software development using an object-oriented language
• Good experience of managing and building relationships with stakeholders
• Demonstratable leadership experience where you have mentored juniors and successfully led teams to deliver cross-functional projects
