Position Overview:

Bulletproof is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Retention Marketing Manager to lead the charge in growing customer lifetime value and maximizing the performance of our 8-figure retention business. Retention is core to our DTC success, and this role will own the strategic roadmap for lifecycle marketing across subscription, email, SMS, and post-purchase journeys—while managing a CRM Manager and collaborating cross-functionally.

You’ll bring a proven track record of driving measurable growth through retention strategies, with a strong understanding of how to scale both subscription and non-subscription customer relationships.

Additionally, this position requires a hands-on expert, using the tools and data that power high-performing lifecycle programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and evolve the retention marketing strategy, with a heavy focus on subscription optimization, churn reduction, profitability and LTV growth.
  • Lead and mentor the CRM Manager, ensuring high-quality campaign execution, performance tracking, innovation and ongoing learning.
  • Build and manage full funnel lifecycle journeys across onboarding, replenishment, winback, and loyalty touchpoints.
  • Proven experience driving measurable growth through strong Retention strategies.

Channel & Program Ownership

  • Oversee all owned channel initiatives (email, SMS, and other post-purchase flows) and ensure they are tightly aligned with brand, product, and promotional priorities.
  • Drive segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies to deliver tailored customer experiences.
  • Lead the optimization of loyalty, referral, and proactive churn-prevention programs.

Collaboration & Integration

  • Work closely with channel owners within the DTC team to align lifecycle marketing with merchandising and site experience.
  • Partner with the Development team to support technical retention enhancements including subscription and loyalty flows.
  • Align with Acquisition and Content leads to ensure a seamless customer experience from acquisition to retention.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand Marketing team to ensure retention campaigns are compelling, cohesive, and on-brand.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure retention strategies support business-wide profitability and contribution margin goals.

Insights & Optimization

  • Own key retention KPIs including MRR, LTV, repeat purchase rate, churn, AOV and subscription take rate.
  • Design and lead retention testing roadmap to improve messaging, offers, timing, and segmentation.
  • Translate data into insights and strategic actions to improve performance across cohorts.

Qualifications:

  • Experience owning and leading the strategy for an 8-figure retention business, with a clear ability to drive sustainable growth through lifecycle programs.
  • Must have hands-on experience with tools such as Skio (or equivalent subscription platforms), Klaviyo (email), Postscript (or comparable SMS tools) and Shopify Plus (ecommerce platform).
  • CPG industry experience a must (ideally coffee or wellness categories).
  • Strong track record of driving measurable growth through subscription and non-subscription retention strategies.
  • Direct experience managing a subscription program, with a deep understanding of the drivers of subscription retention and growth.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage cross-functional initiatives, and drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong forecasting and analytical skills.
  • Robust experience leveraging data and building actionable reports to inform strategy and optimization.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and collaboration skills.

Annual base salary gross: $150,000 - $165,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
