Brooksource is searching for an experienced and highly skilled Senior AWS Software Engineer to join our Fortune 500 Energy & Utilities client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the ability to provide high-level estimations for new products. Additionally, this individual will be adept at asking probing questions to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimations. The Senior AWS Software Engineer will also be responsible for overseeing and leading software engineers to build out new products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and highly available applications using AWS services.
- Provide high-level estimations for new products, considering various factors such as scope, complexity, and resources required.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring clear understanding and alignment.
- Ask probing questions to uncover hidden requirements, potential challenges, and opportunities for optimization.
- Implement best practices for cloud-based application development and deployment.
- Ensure security, availability, and performance of applications through effective monitoring and optimization techniques.
- Stay up to date with the latest AWS services and features, and evaluate their potential benefits for current and future products.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on cloud-based applications.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and more.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer are a plus.
